On this website you will find lots of information and photographs relating to the history of Potto Station and the North Yorkshire and Cleveland Railway, including the Whorlton Mineral Branch line. The North Yorkshire & Cleveland Railway Company

The North Yorkshire & Cleveland Railway Company's line from Picton Junction to Stokesley, including the mineral branch line to Swainby was started in 1854 and opened on 2nd March 1857. It was later extended via Battersby Junction through to Grosmont and then to Whitby.

Potto Station

Potto Station was built between 1854 and 1857. It was originally a very simple dwelling with the Booking Office and Waiting room inside the Station Master's House. Check out the buildings page to see how the station buildings developed over the years.
